BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor (Gallery)
The BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor will take to the stage at the
OutDoor Friedrichshafen fair, treating the premium compact segment to
another view of how interior space can be cleverly utilised for sport
and leisure purposes. This concept car presents solutions that take a
fresh route to combining sporting aesthetics and style with sustainable
drive technology, compact dimensions and functionality. The
environmentally friendly plug-in hybrid drive system, bringing together a
combustion engine and an electric motor to provide a very special form

Behold, The 1.5L 3 Cylinder TwinPower Turbo
Unofficially this engine will put out 120-220hp at 180-240nm of peak torque in various configurations, in line with being efficient and dynamic this 1.5L 3 Cylinder TwinPower Turbo will make it's way into cars such as the BMW i3 and the i8 paired with an electric powertrain. BMW has already beginning testing it's new small displacement engines in the existing F20 BMW 1 Series (F20 not sold in North America) as seen here in the pictures, the engine also debuted in the Concept Active Tourer recently shown at the 2012 Paris Autoshow. Small displacement engines will be the future as government enforce the goals for each manufacture to meet new environmental standards.

BMW Concept Active Tourer Officially Unveiled (HD Gallery)
The covers is off on the BMW Concept Active Tourer, have a look at our gallery and press release after the jump. In concept form this Front Wheel Drive hybrid electric (eDrive) BMW City Car is another step BMW is taking towards a premium sustainable mode of transportation. The Concept Active Tourer will debut at the Paris Autoshow in 2 weeks.
